The strategy involved in Red Dog poker is very simple and should be followed and it's that the player should raise only when the spread is seven or more. The main reasons being that the only time that the player get an edge over the house is when the spread in Red Dog is seven or more. This is because it's not until the spread of seven that a total of seven cards will give the player a winning hand, since there are thirteen cards from a deuce to an ace, only six of these cards will make you lose. There for the edge in Red Dog will not switch to the players favor until the spread is equal to seven or more. The house edge in Red Dog is around 2.8% on average.
Should you decide to take the raise bet on the spreads one to six, the edge will be heavily in the favor of the house. With a spread of seven though the house edge dropped to negative 12% making it a good bet, and with a spread of eleven the house edge drops to an amazing negative 76% making this an extremely great bet. Basically a players strategy should be to only raise the bet when the chances of winning are in the favored of the player.
